CHERRYVILLE’S RIO DE ORO

                                    Palomino Pinto - 6/19/88 – 33.75”

                                   AMHA #A108514 – AMHR#43014P-A

                                 A True Cinderella Story!

When we got “RIO” in 1991 from a friend of ours, it was love at first sight.  We had been keeping miniatures for several years and fell in love with him for his attitude as well as his looks and confirmation.  At that time, he was registered with AMHR. Over the years, “RIO” consistently produced excellent foals and kept his wonderful temperament.

In 1999, we went to our first AMHA show and sale at “The Event” and purchased a little Rowdy grandson.  We were hooked and wanted to start showing.  We were introduced to BETTY and GERALD WELLS.  Since were interested in showing AMHA and AMHR, they referred us to DUSTY HARTZOG.  We can’t thank BETTY & GERALD enough!!!

Thinking the Rowdy grandson had to be the best we owned since he was out of champion bloodline, we took him to Dusty.  He was shown for a short time and took several first places and then Dusty came to visit us at the farm.  I will never forget when we were driving down the alley looking in the different paddocks and Dusty spotted “RIO”.  She said “OH MY GOD WHO IS THAT!!!”

We hardshipped him into AMHA and the rest is history.

********************************************

RIOis the definition of the “LOOK AT ME” attitude!  With a gorgeous head, big eye, long neck, vivid color and correctness, you can’t help but admire his presence.  During his amazing, short (4 month) show career, Rio won multiple First Places, Reserve and Grand Championships and was named SUPREME HALTER CHAMPION at his very first show, the 2000 Ft. Worth Stock Show.  Not to mention, he started his show career at 12 years old!

We highly value RIO’S temperament – sweet, loving, energetic and eager to accept any new challenge you present to him.  His foals are very correct, with pretty heads, big eyes, long necks, refinement and COLOR!  They all have a very fluid way in their movement.

RIO is a proven producer of champions.

His first daughter that was shown was CHERRYVILLE RIO’S IMPRESSIVE COMMENT (“SASSY”), she had a very impressive show record.  She has earned the title of Amateur Superior Event Horse Level 1 Sr. Mares.  AND she did it in only 1 year! She is the 2001 AMHA Honor Roll Champion in Open Halter, Amateur Level 1 Sr. Mares, and Youth Sr. Mares; 2000 National Res. Ch. Sr. Mares; 2000 & 2001 Top Ten in Open Halter, Amateur & Youth; 2000 & 2001 Central Regional Gr. Ch. Amateur 1 Sr. Mares &Youth Sr. Mares; and 2000 & 2001 Res. Gr. Ch. Sr. Mare 28-30!!!! She has gone on to produce champions that are being shown in today's show ring and has proven herself as a brood mare.  Sassy was taken out to show again in 2007 and WOW!  As a 12 year old, she again was a Top Ten Winner at the AMHA World Show.

Another of his get that most people will remember is the buckskin mare Megan showed for several years, Cherryville Rio's American Beauty.  Beauty was shown at the AMHA World Show for 3 years.  Each year, she was in the top 5.  One year, she won RESERVE WORLD CHAMPION YOUTH 8 TO 12 JUNIOR MARE.  She consistently won many Supremes and World Titles in youth and amateur.

RIO has had Many Sons and Daughters shown over the years.  Almost all have been judged to be SUPREME HALTER HORSES, several have been World High Point Winners in different heights and ages and most are World Top Ten Open Horses, if not World Champions !!!
